Starfleet Special Operations, also known as SpecOps, is the elite branch of Starfleet that is frequently tasked with assignments deemed unsuitable or too difficult for the regular forces of Starfleet. They are often referenced as being analogous to Special Forces divisions. STARFLEET Special Operations (SFSO) is an official auxiliary of STARFLEET International. SFSO Department is under the jurisdiction of the Vice Commander, STARFLEET. The members of SFSO include veterans, active-duty military, and everyday Star Trek fans in addition to those who like the military/intelligence flavor to their Star Trek activities. The goal of SFSO is to provide each member of STARFLEET with a one-on-one experience by allowing them to take on the persona of an elite STARFLEET Special Operations Operative. The SFSO Operatives have some of the same goals as the rest of SFI, such as community service and charity fundraising, but SOUs also participate in mock missions, paint ball competitions, etc. It is important to note that even though the SFSO is setup like the military, they are in no way an actual military or paramilitary entity.
