Commanding Officer

A commanding officer, abbreviated as CO, skipper, or ship's captain, is a term utilized to describe the hierarchical position as a holdover from naval tradition.  Regardless of their actual rank or position, it is general practice aboard starships to address the commanding officer as "captain".

In STARFLEET International, a ship's commanding officer is the person responsible for monthly reports for the chapter, for the general welfare of the members of their chapter, administration and disbursement of funds within the chapter.  They are expected to set an example for their fellow crew members while also promoting the ideals of STARFLEET and Star Trek in general. They are also expected to aid in fostering growth and harmony within their Chapters while trying to keep discord at a minimum.
