The Judiciary is the branch of government responsible for resolving legal disputes, consisting of a hierarchy of courts, with the Federation Supreme Court at its apex. Federation courts often rely on panels of citizens, known as juries, in helping to achieve its duties under Federation mandate. The Federation Grand Jury hears testimony as part of criminal investigations, deciding if there is enough evidence to go to trial. Federation Special Juries try war criminals. Along with civilian courts, Starfleet itself has its own system of courts martial.
